If you take something by force
There is never enough
If you share it
There will always be something left over

It’s that time of the year again! This Friday, the largest regatta on the West Coast begins! It’s three days of racing, parties and nursing bruised and sore muscles.
We’ll be doing the windward-leeward buoy races on Charisma V – USA 46441. This will be the first time we have done these. I don’t expect us to win since we’ll be racing against professional and semi-professional crews, but I do think we can finish in the middle of the pack barring any equipment failures or stupid mistakes. We shall see!
I will attempt to take some photos from on the boat and post them after the races – key word attempt. It’s hard to take pictures when you are hustling around the deck during a race.
In the meantime, enjoy some boat porn from last year!

If you are in the area, do stop by and enjoy the spectacle and the parties, it’s always a good time for sailors and non-sailors alike!
I have, from day one, stated that President Obama is utterly out of sync with the American populous, its values, and its traditions. I think this picture so clearly captures that lack of sync, that it is worthy of a Pulitzer.

Literally everyone around him is doing the wave and there he sits, looking bored, irritated and wistful. As if being at the game is an imposition forced upon him and he’d rather be doing something else. Perhaps golfing yet again? Perhaps another fancy party at the Whitehouse? Perhaps another concert? I suspect anything other than being around the common people and having to endure their silly game. As Dorothy Rabinowitz so aptly put it, we truly do have an alien living in the Whitehouse.
Sorry for the lack of post this last week, the fiancé and I have been busy preparing for the Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week Regatta.
You would be surprised at the parallels between sailing competitively with a team and designing software with a team. At least coding doesn’t leave physical bruises – well at least some times. There was that one time debating on the patent filing…
Since I missed my usual Caturday post, I present you with Sunday Night “Neko In the Jungle”
Properly groomed eyebrows are a must.
Abby Sunderland, the 16 year old girl from Thousand Oaks, California attempting to sail circumnavigate the globe solo, has been found alive and well.
It seems she ran into severe weather in the Southern Ocean, was knocked down, lost her radar, and then finally her rig.
Listen to her father get the news while he is live on the air.
The best iPhone ad spoof evah?
I haven’t posted in a few days as I have moved on from Visual Studio 2008 Professional to Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and have been neck deep in exploring the new IDE and features.
So far, I am loving it! I only had one small glitch that was strange and didn’t affect the operation: The registered owner and organization was listed as Microsoft.
How to change the Visual Studio 2010 registered owner and organization information:
Close all instances of Visual Studio 2010
Fire up RegEdit and:
On 32-bit Windows follow the below steps:
Edit the values under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Registration\UserName
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\RegisteredOrganization
On a 64-bit Windows follow the below information:
Edit the values under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Registration\UserName
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\RegisteredOrganization
When that is done, start the Visual Studio 2010 Command Prompt and run: DevEnv /setup
Let that run and when it is done, close the Command Prompt and Visual Studio 2010 and you should now see the correct user information listed.
Extensions, Templates and SDKs
I am loving the new suite of extensions, templates and SDKs available for VS2010. Here are the ones I am using so far:
So far I think Microsoft has done a great job with this version of Visual Studio.
Good job guys!
Yes, even California kitties are into wheat grass.
Just some boats passing by…
